Plagiarism is defined as the use, reproduction, or close imitation of another author’s work, ideas, data, images, or intellectual property without appropriate acknowledgment or attribution, whether intentional or unintentional.

Acts Considered as Plagiarism

The following actions are classified as plagiarism:

  • Copying words or ideas from another person without providing proper attribution
  • Presenting inaccurate information regarding the source
  • Altering the wording while maintaining the original sentence structure of a source without giving credit
  • Reproducing a significant amount of words or ideas from a source such that it constitutes the majority of your work, regardless of whether credit is given or not
  • Images and Figures: Incorporating images, figures, and graphs into your work without obtaining the necessary permissions and providing suitable citations constitutes plagiarism. Authors are required to secure written permission from the owner of the work, when necessary, for the use of any images, figures, etc

The journal adheres to the highest standards of ethical scholarly publishing in accordance with COPE guidelines. All submitted papers must undergo an initial screening and will be evaluated using Turnitin.

Plagiarism Screening and Detection:

All submitted manuscripts will undergo compulsory similarity screening prior to peer review using Turnitin software for checking both, similarity & AI-generated content in submitted manuscript. The following actions are implemented based on the similarity content:

  • If the manuscript exhibits low similarity (10%–20%), it will be sent back to the author for revisions. The author may resubmit the manuscript after eliminating all similarities and reworking the content. Upon resubmission, the manuscript will undergo further scrutiny to prevent any potential plagiarism and the replication of previously published data.
  • If the similarity content is excessively high, the manuscript will be rejected and will not be eligible for revision or publication.

In instances where plagiarism is identified at a later stage, all necessary actions related to the plagiarism offense will be enforced. If the level of plagiarism detected post-publication is deemed too significant, the paper will be retracted.

Exclusions from Similarity Checks

The similarity checks for plagiarism will exclude the following:

  • All quoted works that have been reproduced with the required permissions and/or proper attribution.
  • All references, bibliographies, tables of contents, prefaces, and acknowledgments.
  • All generic terms, legal statutes, standard symbols, and standard equations.
